About Me

Biography

Born in Colorado Springs, CO in 1979

I Learned to read music and play piano at the age of seven. Also in my younger years I played organized sports including football, baseball, basketball and soccer.

When I was about fourteen I bought my first guitar, I took some lessons here and there to learn basic music theory on guitar. Other than that I am self taught. I learned by listening and reading tablature, usually learning covers of my favorite songs. Later I began to train my ear and only learn cover songs by listening and rarely taking a look at the sheet music as a last resort.

Also at the age of fourteen or so I turned my attention to skateboarding, though I had some experience in my younger years I did not really become interested is skateboarding until after the newer skateboard models came out. After I learned to ollie I was hooked and haven't put the skateboard down ever since.

After high school I was in a band for a short while called Aurora Borealis, we had spent months and hundreds of dollars on equipment and began recording, shortly after the band broke up because of personal issues. I have since been writing and recording my own music but I haven't found time in my life to play in another band. At that time I also became interested in film making. I started out making reality based sketch comedy shorts and skate-videos editing form a handy-cam to VHS. During this time I found that it was difficult to make ends meet and decided to go back to school.

When I enrolled in college I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do. At the time I was interested in possibly starting a business or entering into the emergency medical services field. After a semester or two I discovered my true calling in the Multimedia Graphic Design field. I found that it was catered specifically to my personal interests and would help me develop my skills and abilities full circle.

Shortly after entering this field I knew that I had truly found a career that I would love and it's true, I love doing this in my own time so getting paid for it is kind of a no-brainer.I began in school heavily studying video editing and production. I also was excited to learn web design, DVD authoring and motion graphics. I also learned basic design principles and color theory which really helped me the most when it came to design, I can not emphasize that enough. Using my basic concepts really helped me with Photoshop, Illustrator and typography as well as motion graphics and flash design.

I always pushed the limits in school when it came to video editing, flash and animation. I had no problems doing five times the required amount of work asked for each assignment because I took great pride in having my projects stand out above the rest and always enjoyed having my work critiqued. For the most part, all the skate-videos, animations and miscellaneous personal projects on this site were all school assignments.

In my basic Flash introduction course I had trouble at first learning all the commands. After I learned basic key-framing and action-script in Flash my work really started to speak for itself. Our last assignment was to create a basic interactive splash page or something similar. That is when I first started developing the Flash portion of this website. I told my instructor that I wanted to create an eye that followed the mouse cursor as it moved around. He told me that was beyond the scope of the assignment and told me to do something more simple and refused to help me develop any of the action-script. By the time the project was due I had put together a full page as seen on the Flash portion of this website with a picture I took of myself and then photo-shopped with the eyes following the mouse cursor as I had originally imagined. And no my complexion is not that red looking, I had color corrected it to match the red on my home-page. Though my instructor discouraged me and told me not to try it and didn't help me, I would like to thank him for that because it made me push myself harder to get the job done. As you can tell I didn't stop there, I later added in the moving background of Manhattan, the clouds and the Eclipse as well as the navigation, Audio, Video, Art and Photography functions. The Flash portion of my site has always been a work in progress as it always will be.

During the last part of my time in college I was an intern at IMS Productions and KRDO ABC News 13 in Colorado Springs. Over at IMS I learned quite a bit about editing in a professional high end environment. I also learned quite a bit about shooting, lighting, directing and producing. Over there at KRDO I learned about script writing, analog B-roll editing, shooting on location, journalism and meeting strict deadlines.

After I graduated from college I was hired over at Aztec Media Company as a video editor. I enjoyed it while I was there and also got quite a bit of hands on experience in reguards to editing, preparing for broadcast, DVD authoring, audio editing, small production, mass production, format conversion and technical audio, video set up.

Currently I have a start up business called Point of Impact Productions. It is capable of developing high end Video, Audio and Web Production and Graphic Design. I am also taking on some other personal projects including my e-commerce site, claymation, 3D Animation and I am looking to get into screen-printing in the near future.
